The exhibition Tragicomica. Prospettive sull’arte italiana dal secondo Novecento a oggi, conceived in collaboration with the Centre d’Art Contemporain Genève and curated by Francesco Stocchi and Andrea Bellini, presents a compelling reinterpretation of Italian art from the postwar period to the present day. The project examines a defining trait of Italian culture: its ability to confront the tragic through irony, employing humor, self-irony, and paradox as powerful tools of critique and reflection.
Within this framework, the exhibition brings together a selection of works by Gianfranco Baruchello – Libro di piombo (1960), Piccolo nécessaire per l’oltretomba (1962), Cappelli (1969), and Cimitero di opinioni su Feltrinelli (1972) – which exemplify the artist’s distinctive engagement with language, materiality, and the contradictions of contemporary society.
